"Imagine this….Family and friends are gathered in a beautiful wood paneled, open aired chapel. Ahead of them lies a seemingly never-ending view of the magical Sea of Cortez. The sound of ocean waves crashing on the beach in the background only gives way to the beautiful music playing as you walk down the aisle ready to begin the rest of your life. It’s about this moment that you think to yourself “I really made the right decision, there is no better place to get married than Cabo Azul”.
We were married at Cabo Azul in October 2010. A destination wedding for an expected guest list of 150-200 people was a scary proposition but we had fallen in love with Cabo San Lucas and San Jose Del Cabo and were excited about the prospect of being married there. Once we walked onto the grounds at Cabo Azul and had that first meeting, we were sold.
The resort is located in the beautiful colonial city of San Jose del Cabo. The city and resort are a short 15 minute cab or shuttle ride from the airport (opposed to a 45-60 min. ride to Cabo). San Jose is an artist’s community that is a quieter destination than Cabo. This is where the good life is celebrated and this city provides the perfect setting to simply relax and enjoy your time away.
Some of the most amazing restaurants are found in downtown San Jose and if you’re looking for a fun place to hang and enjoy some local beverages, San Jose has that too. And for daytime activities, the resort is 5-15 minutes to water sports and some of the best golf courses in the area, including Palmilla and Cabo Del Sol.
Cabo Azul itself rivals any of the top tier resorts throughout the greater Cabo San Lucas area. The rooms are large and the amenities first rate. The grounds are the same. A subtle elegance looms over the property with its three infinity pools and the beautiful view of the ocean. The staff from check-in to check out is incredibly attentive and everyone staying there is more than a VIP, they are treated like family.
The Wedding Staff is second to none. Your wish is their command and they will do everything to make sure the experience is as smooth as possible. From the beginning planning stages to the last dance they make you feel comfortable and secure. One thing that stood out to us was that we spoke with a lot of people at the property who had come back to vacation there well after their weddings and all said the same thing about the staff and the experience.
The facilities are top notch as well. You’ll be hard pressed to find two more beautiful places to celebrate any where in the world than the Chapel and Javier’s. The Chapel is an open aired space located on the second floor that looks out at the Sea of Cortez. The space has marble flooring and is wrapped in an elegant, beautifully finished, wood paneling. And did I mention that view….
Javier’s is the perfect location for a reception. The restaurant is also open aired so you feel as free as the never ending ocean view that borders the restaurant. The space has an understated elegance highlighted by traditional décor with a contemporary touch. Most importantly it has everything a wedding celebration needs. Along with a full service restaurant, the space has an area for a pre-dinner cocktail reception and an area to dance the night away under the moonlight. As I said, it’ll be difficult to find a better place for a wedding reception, period.
One of our wedding goals was trying to avoid the normal wedding fare – food that is dry and uneventful. The Food served at Javier’s (and throughout the resort) is incredible. The chefs at Javier’s are amazing and our guests are still raving about the food. The menu choices are refreshing and different from those at the standard community reception hall wedding, and I promise you’re guests will rave about the food as well.
Cabo Azul provided a dream setting for a dream wedding. Every one of our guests fell in love with the resort just as we did and all said they’d be back. As for the wedding, it’s still talked about today as one of the best on everyone’s lists and obviously words cannot explain how happy we are for making this decision. If you’re looking for a destination wedding that will exceed all expectations, that will provide an elegant setting and the perfect place for you, family and friends to celebrate, Cabo Azul is this place.
